Notice issued to vendor for selling fake stamp papers
Dehradun, January 1 The notice follows a claim made by the vendor concerned that he had validly obtained 70 stamp sheets of Rs 500 denomination each from the district treasury. The additional district magistrate (ADM) Vinod Kumar Suman today said a seven-day notice has been issued to the vendor. “We have asked the vendor, following claim made by him in an affidavit, to explain how he obtained and sold these stamp papers to buyers
of the property in question when the district treasury denied the same,” he said. As highlighted by The Tribune, the fraud came to light during pendency of a court case related to allegedly forged registration of the said piece
of land. As per the sale deed documents, three property dealers of Dehradun used stamp papers worth Rs 35,000 shown to have been issued by the district treasury on February 12, 2004. Interestingly, the information obtained by the complainant Suraj Bhan of Lunia Mohalla, Dehradun, under RTI Act showed that no stamp paper was sold to these persons by the treasury on the said date. The chief treasury officer PC Khare had in writing intimated that no stamp papers of the said denomination were issued on
this date. The revelation, according to Khare, gave rise to strong suspicion about the genuineness of these stamp papers. Following this, the complainant approached the then District Magistrate for detailed enquiry and action. Subsequently, the enquiry report prepared by Additional District Magistrate Suman pointed towards foulplay in sourcing of the said stamp sheets. |
