Tribune News Service

Dehradun, December 21
The state unit of the BJP has started preparations for the coming Lok Sabha elections. Party in charge for Uttarakhand Krishan Murari Moghe is in Dehradun to convene meetings with party legislators, ministers and activists of the Sangh Parivar.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, Moghe said that yesterday he met Sangh Parivar members and BJP activists and detailed discussions, pertaining to the next general elections, were held.

Giving details about the meetings, Moghe said that it was decided to prepare a list of the issues which the party would rake up during the elections. “On December 27-28, the state executive committee of the Uttarakhand BJP would convene its meeting. We would ask the executive committee to give its suggestions about the strategy to be adopted for contesting the five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand,” he disclosed.

Moghe said that after having thorough discussions, the party would finally prepare a blueprint for the Lok Sabha election strategy to be adopted specifically for Uttarakhand.

Replying to a media query about the issues for the general election, he said that one of the main issue would be achievements of the two-year-old Khanduri regime. “As far as national issues are concerned, it would be decided at the party’s national level. But poor economy and terrorism are the two national issues which will obviously be there,” he said.

Moghe also said that Chief Minister Maj Gen B.C. Khanduri (retd) and state president of BJP Bachi Singh Rawat would be jointly holding a special interaction with party activists in Dehradun, Haldwani and Srinagar.

“The two leaders would be looking into the grievances if any of the BJP workers. The leaders would also listen to the suggestions of the activists with respect to the elections. After that, the election strategy would be formulated,” he said.

When asked that whether everything was fine between party activists and the government, he said that certain issues are always there and for that reason only, it has been decided that the CM and party chief would together meet party activists.

When asked whether the move of the Khanduri government to bring out as many as 54 government positions of chairmen and vice-chairmen of various boards and committees out of the purview of the Office of Profits Act is an exercise to please dissidents, Moghe denied this. However, when asked why the BJP had trained its guns against Tiwari government on the same issue, he failed to give any satisfactory reply.
