Hyderabad, December 19
In the backdrop of Mumbai terror attacks, the Andhra Pradesh government has put in place an administrative mechanism to effectively deal with any such crisis.

The government issued orders constituting the State Crisis Management Group, headed by chief secretary, to act as a single command and quickly swing into action in times of emergency situations.

The decision comes in the wake of heightened threat perception and intelligence inputs warning about vulnerability of key installations in the state to terror strikes.

The state capital had witnessed a series of bomb blasts at public places last year, claiming over 50 lives. There are growing fears that ISI-backed terror outfits have sleeper cells in the city who could be activated any time.

“After reviewing the security situation and preparedness for responding to any situation, in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, the government has decided to constitute the Crisis Management Group to meet any eventuality,” the government order said.

The task before the group, comprising senior bureaucrats from various departments, is to take quick steps to contain the damage and casualties, besides restoring normalcy within a reasonable time.
