Pay Protest
No revised bills
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, September 26
The armed forces, as expected, have not submitted their revised salary bills to the defence ministry’s accounts section. This means the armed forces have not accepted or implemented the 6th pay commission report.

The forces have protested against the disparities that have affected personnel across all ranks.

Though the three service chiefs had already conveyed that the pay hike would not be implemented till the anomalies were removed, the ministry of defence had asked the accounts section to prepare bills.

The forces have turned it down saying that the matter of correcting the anomalies was pending with the Prime Minister and only after he gave a decision would the pay hike be implemented.

The armed forces are unhappy that the anomalies were not dealt with at one go. Manmohan Singh is scheduled to return from his US visit on October 1.
