The bomb disposal squad defused a live bomb, left near a shopping mall in the Koramangala area of the city this morning, a day after a series of low-intensity bomb blasts shook the city. The police rushed to the spot after it got the information that an unidentified man in his mid-20s has kept a bucket like object on the footpath near the Forum Mall.
The bomb was identical to the ones used in yesterday’s serial explosions in the city, Bangalore city police commissioner Shankar Bidari said. The police is looking for the culprit and is also planning to have a sketch of the man prepared and release it for identification.
A special team under joint commissioner of police Gopal Hosur has already been constituted by the police to conduct probe into the serial blasts.
Karnataka DGP Srikumar said the bombs detonated in the city yesterday were “professionally assembled”. He said the police was studying the unexploded bomb recovered today for gathering more clues about the blasts.
Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said investigations were on to nail the culprits behind the blasts. He added that the IT sector had nothing to fear as the government was taking all possible steps to ensure security in the city. Yeddyyurappa said he would make a statement about the progress of the investigations in the Assembly on Monday.
