Leave Darjeeling, GJM tells Ghising
Siliguri, July 26 "Ghising has to leave Darjeeling immediately. We have told the administration that we will not take responsibility for his security," GJM chief Bimal Gurung told PTI from Darjeeling. Other GNLF leaders involved in yesterday's incidents, which led to the gunning down of a GJM's women's wing member would also have to leave, he said. He alleged that Siliguri-based CPM leaders were in league with the GNLF to sabotage the GJM's movement and disturb peace. "They don't want peace in
Darjeeling and our democratic movement to continue.” "We did not oppose Ghising's return to Darjeeling earlier, but he has to leave now and the West Bengal government has to act," he said. He said the GJM would attend a tripartite meeting if it was called.
Roads to court blocked
Women activists of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha today blocked all roads leading to Darjeeling court to prevent the authorities from producing 14 GNLF men arrested for allegedly gunning down a GJM women's wing member. The GJM agitators are demanding that the arrested people including GNLF's Darjeeling branch president Deepak Gurung and two former councillors A.R. Dewan and N.K. Kumai, be handed over to them, official sources said. The 14 people were arrested after Pramila Sharma, a member of the Gorkha Janmukti Nari Morcha, was shot dead when GJM activists gheraoed Gurung's house yesterday.
