Cong seeks CBI probe into Sandeep murder case
Nawanshahr, July 4 Expressing solidarity
with the agitators, Capt Amarinder Singh raised the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. He said the Congress would not remain a mute spectator to the “atrocities” on
Congress workers. Lamenting politicisation of bureaucracy in the state by the SAD-BJP alliance, Capt Amarinder said the Congress was preparing a “red book” of officials. “Though Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has issued orders and shifted the inquiry into the case to other district to nab the accused in the Sandeep murder case, the result is a big zero,” said Capt Amarinder Singh, making a satire on the authenticity of the CM’s orders. The former CM said pressure should be mounted on the Punjab government to hand over the inquiry to the CBI. The other way to get a CBI inquiry is to move a petition in the High Court, he added. Bir Devinder Singh said PPCC chief Rajinder Kaur Bhattal had decided that the Congress would raise the issue in the Vidhan Sabha. Assuring full support from the PPCC, he suggested to the action committee to chalk out a programme to urther intensify the stir at the state level. SAD (A) chief Mann, Prof Balwant Singh (CPM), Joginder Dyal, Bhupinder Sambher (CPI) and former MLA Shingara Ram Sahungra also assured their support. Criticising the dilly-dallying attitude of the police in nabbing the accused, the leaders condemned the registration of cases against the action committee members. |
