A for Artists - a reunion of art and ideas
Jalandhar, June 21 Titled ‘A for Artists’, the conclusive day of the five-day workshop will be marked by an exhibition at Virsa Vihar here tomorrow evening. Outlining the idea of the workshop, Aditi Sangwan, a Mohali-based artist, said it has been a step towards introducing visual vocabulary to the visitors in an interactive way. “Generally, people visit the exhibitions and move off without fully understanding the concept that the artist has employed in creating the art work. But here we can interact with them. They discuss their interpretation with us and we convey our idea. Sometimes, a new concept for the next better depiction gets generated after such an interaction”, she said. Divya Bansal, who excels in print art, said after the completion of BFA, all of them had moved in different directions learning various concepts doing postgraduate courses from various institutes like Kala Bhavan, Shantiniketan and Indra Kala Sangit University, Khairagarh. “Here we got together again on the same platform realising all what we had learnt all these years, mixing ideas and growing further by discussing experiences with one another”, said the artist, who primarily concentrates on geometrical forms or lines created by observing architectural buildings, poles and pillars. Working in the area of astrological symbolism, Rajesh Kalsi has been making paintings depicting various characters of an astrologer as he manipulates the future and the past of people with his works, deeply influencing the human psyche. A mural work expert, Hardeep Singh has explored the concept of fertility with fruit and vegetable motifs. A huge painting of a cut tomato put up by him seems more like an abstraction, owing to its enlargement, making the visitors enjoy its colours and organic form at the same time. Anshul Dhull has been working on themes revolving around human emotions. Reena Bhatnagar has been portraying the life of a common man. Vishal Bhatnagar has been focusing on innate understanding and spiritual relationship between the universe, human being and the creator. |
