Going by the public notice issued by the MC, the one-month deadline for the sealing of buildings, coverage of excess area, encroachment on government land and other building bylaw violations, given on March 21, expired yesterday.

CMCH union leader attacked

The president of the CMCH Sangharsh Committee, Amrin Gill, was injured in an attack by the alleged supporters of a rival group near the hospital complex this morning. He was taken to the emergency ward of the CMCH. He sustained a fracture on his hand.

Parents cry foul over school’s attitude
Ludhiana, April 21
Chicken pox cost a student of class IX in a leading city school one year. Parents of the student, Sagar Davar, alleged that even after assuring that their child, who was suffering from chicken pox, would be promoted to the next class on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by him during the year, the authorities of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sector 32, failed to do so.

Decline in steel rates fails to cheer traders
Sale down by 40 per cent
Ludhiana, April 21
Reduced demand from steel consuming units has caused a dent of almost 40 per cent in the sale of steel by local manufacturers. Prices of steel,too, have reacted to the market forces and recorded a decline. However, the downward trend has failed to bring cheer to steel consuming industries like cycle, cycle parts and engineering goods, which is hesitating from taking any further orders from buyers due to rapid fluctuations in prices.

PAU lowers eligibility marks for M.Sc course

On the persistent demand of those studying B.A (Economics),the Academic Council of the Punjab Agricultural University has in its 310th meeting held yesterday, lowered the eligibility marks for seeking admission to M.Sc course in agricultural economics from 60 to 55 per cent marks to make it on par with other universities of the state.
