The Christian Medical College and Hospital authorities have condemned mob violence at a local hospital following the death of a patient while calling upon the state government to evolve a comprehensive mechanism to ensure safety of doctors and supporting staff.

Shivratri was celebrated with religious fervour in the city today. The temples in the city were opened in the wee hours for devotees, who thronged in great numbers. The temples were tastefully decorated for the occasion. People accompanied with their children and grand-children went to various temples of Lord Shiva to seek blessings.

Lok adalat to dispose of 15,000 challans

The Legal Services Authority is all set to clear the backlog of around 15,000 traffic challans through a state level lok adalat to be held on March 7 and 8 at Judicial Complex.

No succour to small units in Budget: Chopra

Small-scale industrial units regretted that the finance minister has not paid any attention towards this sector, which is a major employment generator, in the Union Budget. Release grant for pensioners: Maur

Public health fair tomorrow
50 disabled to get artificial limbs, equipment

Asha and Anganwari workers of the state health department launched a door-to-door campaign to mobilise members of the special sections of society to avail themselves of the facilities provided at the subdivision-level family welfare public health fair. The fair will be organised at Dr Zakir Hussain Stadium, Malerkotla, near here, on Saturday.

425 examined in medical camp
Ludhiana, March 6
Under its rural health outreach programme, Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), along with the Qaumi Ekta Council, organised a medical camp for patients living in Street No 8 of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar. At least 425 patients were examined in the camp.

CMCH to organise lectures on critical care
Ludhiana, March 6
The department of anaesthesiology and critical care of the CMCH would organise a series of lectures on critical care in the hospital auditorium. The series would start on March 7. Dr K. Ghandhimathi, presently working as ICU consultant in Belfast City Hospital, Northern Ireland, UK, will be the chairperson of the series.
