IMA seeks legislation to protect doctors
Ludhiana, January 28
Expressing its concern over the registration of criminal cases for the alleged negligence against doctors in gross violation of the apex court’s direction, the state unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has urged the state government to bring in legislation on the pattern of Andhra Pradesh.

Can’t depend on policemen to catch thieves. So it seems, if one is to believe Dr Sham Kumar Kohli of Bhadaur House.The doctor said thieves would frequently break into his office opposite AC Market. Today, he kept a watch on the place and surprised four youths in the act of stealing sanitary goods.

Woman murdered
Ludhiana,January 28
The body of a young woman was found in a gunny bag abandoned in an isolated plot in the Salem Tabri area today afternoon. The police said the woman, a migrant, seemed to had been strangulated after being raped. There were no clothes on her body. The bag was spotted by a few persons, who informed the police as pungent smell was emanating from it. The police has not been able to ascertain the woman’s identity so far.

Transporters’ body alleges fraud

CSIR sanctions Rs 22.5 lakh projects

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, has sanctioned two projects worth Rs.22.5 lakh to the Punjab Agricultural University for undertaking research on extruded products and use of cereal brans in foods.

Ludhiana, January 28 Vipin Khanna, chairman of Khanna Group of Companies, inaugurated the K.E. Institute of Management Sciences here on Saturday. The institute would provide training to airport handling staff, air ticketing and travel agency business, retail management courses for malls and diploma in travel and tourism.

In order generate awareness among the masses, a free obesity check-up, body mass composition analysis (B.C.A.) and dietary guidance camp was organised at Sidhu Hospital, Doraha, here today. Around 150 patients suffering from obesity and associated type 2 diabetes were examined during the camp.
