PDP misleading people: Cong
Tribune News Service

Jammu, November 17
The Congress has ridiculed the PDP and the National Conference for “misleading” the people on the issues of self-rule and autonomy.

The PCC chief, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, who was addressing a meeting of Congress activists organised by a former MP, Mr Janak Raj Gupta, here today, asked the PDP to come out with a clear document on its self-rule proposal.

He also had a dig at the National Conference for blowing the trumpet of autonomy for its narrow political ends.

The PCC chief said with an elected Assembly, Jammu and Kashmir already had self-rule and was enjoying more autonomy than any other state in the country.

He said the coalition government led by Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad had fulfilled almost all promises made in the election manifesto. The government had gone a step ahead while implementing the report of the Wazir Commission by creating eight new districts against the recommendation of four made by the commission.

Mr Sayeed criticised Pakistan for continuing to infiltrate terrorists here.

Meanwhile, Mr Gupta said the state was witnessing an era of development under the leadership of Mr Azad. He asked Congress activists to strengthen the hands of Mr Azad.

The Health Minister, Mr Mangat Ram Sharma, and the Rural Development Minister, Mr Jugal Sharma, were among those who spoke on the occasion.
