Lucknow, November 14
The conflict between the Congress-led UPA government and the Samajwadi government in the state is set to widen in days to come. While the UPA government is contemplating the dismissal of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party is gearing up to stall Parliament’s winter session.
The official reason for the Centre studying the pros and cons of the dismissal of the Samajwadi Party (SP) government is the reported irregularities in the local body poll. On the other hand, the SP is planning to bring the winter session of the parliament, starting on November 22, to a halt to protest the delay of the union government in clearing the gas deal for Anil Ambani’s Dadri power project.
Charging the Centre with indulging in “gas politics” SP national general secretary and Uttar Pradesh Development Council Chairperson Amar Singh said, “We will not allow proceedings in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to continue till the Centre approves the deal for the power project.”
Speaking at an event where three power-purchase pacts were signed, Amar said, “The Central Government should stop dishing out step motherly treatment to Uttar Pradesh. If the UPA government gives a green signal for the supply of gas to UP then the Dadri project would be come functional.”
