SSP Hoshiarpur R.N. Dhoke has ordered an inquiry into the DTO trap case to the SP Headquarters. The SSP told The Tribune since it was a serious matter the SP had been directed to give inquiry report in seven days. Both complainant and the accused DTO would be called to get their statements recorded.

Violence after killing of 2 brothers

The killing of two youths in Angarh today triggered unprecedented rowdiness as hundreds of raged people belonging to a particular community, went around, smashing vehicles, attacking buildings, including a private hospital, thereby creating panic in the city, a day after Divali celebrations.

Two killed, six injured in road mishap

Two persons, including a four-year-old girl, were killed and six persons were injured when a four-wheeler hit them on the Sangrur-Mehlan road yesterday. Three of them were on a rickshaw while others were on foot when the mishap took place.

Noted film producer Manoj Punj died in Mumbai this afternoon following a massive heart attack. He was in his late 30s.

3 minor fires on Divali
Rajpura, October 22
Three minor fires were reported from the township on Divali yesterday. In the first incident, a rehri of crackers, belonging to Mr Sham Lal, caught fire when a cracker burst near it in the bus stand area. The fire spread to the nearby area gutting two more rehris. However, no loss of life was reported.

Husband, father-in-law booked for murder
Tarn Taran, October 22
Ramandeep Kaur (19), a newly married girl, was allegedly hanged to death by her husband and her father-in-law at Chaudhry Wala village (near Naushehra Pannuan), 14 km from here, last evening.

Man commits suicide
Rajpura, October 22
A 28-year-old man committed suicide at his residence in the Old Rajpura town yesterday. According to police sources, Darshan Singh hanged himself from a ceiling fan when he was alone in his house in Kallar Bhaini village in Old Rajpura.
