Sanjay Narayen quits service
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, September 12
Sanjay Narayen, a senior official of the Civil Aviation Ministry who was also in charge of the modernisation of several airports in the country, resigned this morning after apparently being upset over being superseded in service.

Mr Narayen, a 1976 batch IAS batch officer of Maharashtra cadre, although officially did not give any reason why he was quitting service. However, sources said that since he was ignored for empanelment to the next seniority he decided to quit.

He was to have been empanelled for the Additional Secretary level in the service but his name was apparently dropped at the last minute, which peeved him. Incidentally reports emerging from the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan ruled out speculations about him joining any airline or aviation related business. He had earlier worked in the Human Resource Ministry, Culture, and joined Civil Aviation Ministry in 2005 as Joint Secretary.
