One booked:
The police on Thursday booked Charanjit Singh, a resident of Garhi Ajit Singh, under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act and seized a .315 bore pistol and four live cartridges from him. 

45 pc students anaemic: Forty five per cent students of 14 government elementary schools have been found to be anaemic with haemoglobin levels of only 9 grams during a special campaign launched to correct anaemia among students.

Drugs seized: The police on Thursday arrested Balbir Kaur, Tilak Raj and Raja, all residents of Denowal Khurd and recovered 12 gram smack from them on Wednesday. The three have been booked under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act.

Effigy burnt: Members of the Unemployed B.Ed Teachers Union burnt an effigy of the Punjab government on Thursday to protest against the government for not making recruitments against vacant posts. 

Three booked: The police has booked the in-laws of Ms Mandeep Kaur, a resident of Tanda, under Sections 498 A, 406 and 34 of the IPC on the basis of a complaint by her that she was harassed for dowry.

Library in memory of son:
Mr Joginder Singh Bains, a resident of Durgapur village, on Thursday donated Rs 50,000 to Dr Asanand Senior Secondary School for setting up of a library in the memory of his son Baldev Singh.

Clash leaves two injured:
Jaspal Singh, alias Jassi, a resident of Kular Khurd village, was injured seriously while Jasbir Singh, a resident of Dhandholi Kalan village, sustained injuries in a group clash near court complex at Sunam on Thursday. As per the police a case will be registered only after the recording of the statements of the two.
