Hearing in Salman’s illegal arms case on June 23

Jodhpur, June 19
A court here has fixed June 23 as the next date for hearing actor Salman Khan’s case related to illegal possession of arms.

The prosecution today presented 25 documents in the illegal possession of arms case along with a petition letter that these documents be considered as statement files in the court of Magistrate Dalpat Singh Purohit.

Admitting the petition and giving time to the defence counsel, the court fixed the next date for hearing as June 23.

The court could not complete the hearing of the last witness of the day, the then Jodhpur’s Upper Police Superintendent Ashok Patni, although it had fixed today for completing the testification of this witness.

The 25 documents presented by the prosecution in the court relates to the two black buck poaching case in Kankani on Oct 1 and 2, 1998, by Salman.

The chargesheet was filed in this case, which had been recorded in the files also.

But the prosecution failed to present their photocopies of the chargesheet then.

After eight years, the prosecutors presented the relevant documents when the court met today for hearing the last witness in the case.

Two other cases of Salman — the chinkara poaching incident of September 26 and 27, 1998, in Bhavad and the Ghoda farm case of September 28 and 29, 1998, could not be heard as the prosecution had filed petitions in the Rajasthan High Court.

The prosecution had filed petitions for review of the relief granted to the accused by the District and Sessions Court and the files relating to the case, were presently with the high court.

That was why the hearings could not be conducted today. The next hearing in both these cases would be August 21.

The court also framed fresh charges against Salman, Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam, Sonali Bendre and six others under the Wildlife Protection Act in the black buck hunting case.

While Salman was charged with hunting a black buck, charges against others were framed for provoking the poaching of endangered species in the court. — UNI
