Dullo rallies around Mayor in Birmi’s constituency

Lands for function in state copter

The Punjab Pradesh Congress President, Mr Shamsher Singh Dullo, appears to have given a reason for celebration to the opposition parties like the Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal and the Bhartiya Janata Party for using the state helicopter for coming to a party function.

Education Minister Harnam Dass Johar has asserted that the Congress Government headed by Capt. Amarinder Singh was according top priority to the uplift of the Scheduled Castes and weaker sections of society.

Hosting “relationship building” parties has become a common trend in the city. At a similar function, the organisers, who hosted a large scale party, expected the who’s who to attend the function. But they were in for a disappointment. For, most of the people who attended the function were eager to register their presence in every possible way. No wonder relationship were the first casualty.

Employees to launch phased agitation against govt policies
Ludhiana, June 4
The Punjab Employees Action Committee has decided to launch a phased agitation against the anti-employees policies of the state government. In the first phase of the stir, the employees will hold a state-level “anti-repression’rally and protest march at Hoshiarpur on July 6.

The city police is learnt to have finally established the identity of the four girls who had caused a scare in the Sarabha Nagar market by firing several rounds in the air on the night of May 27 late night.

Farmers’ plea to rectify mistake in grant of relief
Mandi Ahmedgarh, June 4
Three brothers belonging to Malikpur Jandali Khurad village have urged the authorities to issue a cheque for compensation on account of damage caused to their paddy crop due to hailstorm last year. A clerical mistake in revenue record, which has since been rectified, had resulted in the issuance of a cheque in favour of the deceased father of the claimants.

The Punjab Commerce and Management Association organised a comprehensive workshop on career planning for commerce students who have just passed plus two examination at Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana. Nearly 100 students having more than 80 per cent marks in the commerce stream participated in the workshop.

Survey ranks CMC among top 20 medical institutes

The Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, a premier medical institution of the northern region, has been ranked 15th for the year 2005-2006 in a survey conducted by a national magazine. The survey was carried out in collaboration with AC Nielson, ORG-MARG, and the ranking was based on elaborate methodology, involving perception and factual ratings.
