4 members of highway robbers’ gang held

The city police today announced the arrest of four members of a gang of highway robbers. The members of the gang did not hesitate even in looting their own relatives or killing an accomplice when they required money.

2 maids ‘rescued’ from doctor’s house

A team of District Administration today raided the premises of a local doctor’s residence and rescued two tribal girls, who were working as domestic helps and had not been paid wages for the past two years.

A ray of hope for ’84 riot victims

Proposed medical bandh garners widespread support
Ludhiana, May 24
The unilateral declaration of 27 per cent quota for OBCs in higher educational institutions by the UPA government and the Left Front gathered more flak as the anti-reservation movement by medical fraternity here gained momentum with many NGOs and other organisations pledged support to the agitation.

BKU opposes giving land to Reliance

5 students of Harkrishan School on merit list
Doraha, May 24
Five students of the local Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School have come on the merit list of Class VIII of the Punjab School Education Board.
Sujata Bhardwaj, who has secured 42nd rank in the state, is second in Ludhiana district and first in Payal tehsil. Abhinav Kaushal stood second in Payal tehsil. Sahil Kapila, Sakshi Sharma and Kavleen Rakhra, too, are in the merit list.

Hansra takes over as School of Agriculture head
Ludhiana, May 24
Dr B.S Hansra is Director, School of Agriculture, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. He is an alumnus of PAU and till recently was Joint Director General, Extension Education, ICAR. He took voluntary retirement to join as Director.

Sacred Heart senior Secondary School, Mandi Gobindgarh, organised the investiture ceremony of the student's council yesterday. The function was presided over by the Chairman of the school, Mr Jose Kottaram and the Principal, Mrs A. Sakarsudha.
