Ludhiana, May 5
Gas leak from an ice factory caused major panic among residents in thickly-populated Patel Nagar at about midnight here with many of them fleeing the place complaining of irritation in the eyes and nausea. No casualty could be ascertained.
Ms Lalita Sharma, who lived close to the alleged ice factory, said hundreds of residents had fled after sensing the poisonous gas. The Division No. 8 police had reached the spot and was evacuating the residents.
Panic-stricken residents called up their relatives for help besides calling up the police for rescue operations.
