Haibowal project capacity to be
raised to 10 MW
Ludhiana, April 29
Impressed with the Punjab Energy Development Agency’s first power project based on dairy waste at the Haibowal dairy complex, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today announced that its capacity would be raised from the present 1 MW to 10 MW.

Addl Secy removed, teachers end strike

Mrs Ranjeet Kaur (70), mother of Mr P.S. Mundi, Judicial Magistrate-cum-Civil Judge posted at Patti, resident of Machhiwara, died at Machhiwara early this morning when she slipped while taking bath in Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib.

Parakeet released
Ludhiana, April 29
The president of the local chapter of People for Animals has got a caged parakeet released from an astrologer at Karnal Haveli, a heritage restaurant. Dr Sandeep K. Jain, PFA state coordinator, today claimed that the Chief Wildlife Warden of Haryana, Mr R.D. Jakate, in a communique to him, had said the bird was rescued and released by the department following a complaint by him.

Lions Club adopts school

The Lions Club, Ludhiana Sutlej, has adopted a government school in Kundanpuri under which it will bear the expenses of education of the children. At a function organised here today, Mr R.D. Sharma, president of the club, said around 150 students of Government Elementary Central School, Kundanpuri, would be provided with books, notebooks, uniforms and other necessities.

Govt ‘blind’ to their needs Ludhiana, April 29 Members of the Punjab cricket team (visually impaired) returned yesterday from a week-long tour of Pakistan. Despite losing the five-match series against Pakistan Punjab XI, the boys were full of confidence that they had performed well. They attributed their defeat to the fact that the Pakistan Punjab team had national players.
