20 hurt in clash at Avon Cycles
Ludhiana, April 24
Twenty persons were injured following a clash between labourers and management at Avon Cycles in Giaspura here this morning. The clash took place between workers and supporters of the management after a tiff took place between workers and some factory officials.

Teachers gun for Maheshinder’s scalp
Ludhiana, April 24
“We will continue our strike and the school will remain closed till Mr Maheshinder Singh Grewal is not removed. We do not want a foul-mouthed politician functioning as Additional Secretary of the Nankana Sahib Education Trust, run by the SGPC,” said 50-odd staff members of Nankana Sahib Public School.

Abandoned suitcase causes scare

An abandoned briefcase and a bag led to panic at the Ghanta Ghar chowk this afternoon when some shopkeepers raised an alarm after spotting these under the elevated road. Normalcy, however, returned to the area after a police team opened the briefcase and the bag.

Cong govt real saviour of farmers: Galib

A former MP and PPCC vice-president Gurcharan Singh Galib has claimed that the decision of the Union Government of providing bonus of Rs 50 per quintal on wheat procurement to farmers on the initiative of Capt. Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister, has proved that the Congress Government was the real savior of the farmers.

LIT blames slums on police
Ludhiana, April 24
Holding the district police responsible for not taking up an anti-encroachment drive against slums in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, the Ludhiana Improvement Trust has pleaded before the Punjab State Human Rights Commission to dismiss a petition by residents, who had knocked at the latter’s doors to get respite from mushrooming slums.

The All-India Council of Mayors, has unanimously elected the city Mayor, Mr Nahar Singh Gill, to the coveted post of vice-president of the Mayors’ apex body in the country.

P&G has launched a new dandruff shampoo "with advanced vita zinc system that removes more dandruff in one wash". A company press note issued here today said the new product was  effective in one wash in comparison to other products which needed at least three washes.

HC verdict on veterinary university hailed
Ludhiana, April 24
The Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association has welcomed the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on setting up Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University at Ludhiana. The PAU Teachers Association had made an appeal before the court demanded a stay on the decision which has been dismissed.
