21 health officials put under suspension
Jammu, April 6
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has placed 21 officials of the Health Department, including two doctors, under suspension for dereliction of duty in, Udhampur district, an official source has said here today. According to sources, on recommendations of Tehsildar, Ramnagar, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr Ashok Parmar, has placed 21 officials of primary health centre, Majalta, under suspension for being absent during an inspection yesterday.

Militants attack election rally in north Kashmir
Baramulla, April 6
Militants today attacked an election rally of Shoaib Lone, independent candidate from Sangrama constituency in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, at Wagub near here, official sources said. However, no one was injured in the attack, they added.

Two persons killed, militant arrested
Srinagar, April 6
Two persons were killed by militants and an ultra arrested with 30 kgs RDX in separate incidents in Baramulla, Anantnag and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir today.

21 health officials put under suspension

Jammu, April 6
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has placed 21 officials of the Health Department, including two doctors, under suspension for dereliction of duty in, Udhampur district, an official source has said here today.

According to sources, on recommendations of Tehsildar, Ramnagar, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr Ashok Parmar, has placed 21 officials of primary health centre, Majalta, under suspension for being absent during an inspection yesterday.

Parmar has directed the chief medical officer, Udhampur, to call an explanation from the absentees and furnish the report to his office. The pay of the absentees has also been withheld till further orders.

The names of officials placed under suspension are Dr Som Singh, Assistant Surgeon, (Incharge BMO), Dr. Chander Kanta, Assistant Surgeon, Madan Gopal, Dental Assistant, Rakesh Kumar, X-ray Assistant, Raj Kumar and Naresh Kumar, Pharmacists, Shanker Singh, Laboratory Assistant, Basant Singh and Jagdish Chander, Senior Assistants, Sharda Devi and Tripta Devi, L.H.Vs, Anuradha, FMPHW, Ashok Kumar, JHI (F.W), Shiv Kumar, JHI (Mal), Om Parkash, BHW, Uttam Singh, Driver (contractual), Nursing orderlies, Shamsher Chand, Rattan Chand, Darshan Kumar and Safaiwallas Rano Devi and Vijay Kumar. — UNI

Militants attack election rally in north Kashmir

Baramulla, April 6
Militants today attacked an election rally of Shoaib Lone, independent candidate from Sangrama constituency in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, at Wagub near here, official sources said.

However, no one was injured in the attack, they added.

The sources said militants opened fire on a motorcade carrying Mr Lone's supporters to take part in the election road show at Waqub near Wagoora.

This led to chaos and panic among the supporters of Mr Lone, whose father Dr Ghulam Nabi Lone, the then Minister of State for Education, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen at high-security Tulsi Bagh area in Srinagar on October 18 last year.

In the shootout, two bullets hit one of the tyres of a TATA-407 vehicle. — UNI

Two persons killed, militant arrested

Srinagar, April 6
Two persons were killed by militants and an ultra arrested with 30 kgs RDX in separate incidents in Baramulla, Anantnag and Kupwara districts of Jammu and Kashmir today.

The bullet-riddled body of a labourer, hailing from Ramgarh Khora area of Uttar Pradesh, was found in an orchard near Dangiwacha-Rafiabad in Baramulla district, 50 kms from here, police said.

The militants shot dead a 70-year-old village chowkidar in his home town of Marhama-Bijbehara in Anantnag district, 45 kms from here, they said.

One militant was arrested from Natnoosa area of frontier district of Kupwara and 30 kgs RDX, a pistol, one magazine, nine rounds, a hand grenade and two detonators were recovered from him, they added.

In another incident, three militants took away a Tata Sumo vehicle from its driver in Pulwama district, 35 kms from here, police said. — PTI
