Amritsar
Man killed
: Nirmal Singh Nimma, a resident of Bhangwa village falling under Lopoke police station in Majitha police, was allegedly killed by his friend and farmer Sukha Singh. The police has arrested the accused and registered a case under section 302 IPC.
According to information, the accused took him to his house last evening and both consumed liquor. A dispute arose over a trifle issue. Enraged Sukha attacked Nimma with bricks that died on the spot.

Hoshiarpur
Wheat grinding
: Mr D. K. Tiwari, District Magistrate, Hoshiarpur, has banned the grinding of low quality wheat by the flour mills in the district. He has authorised District Food and Supply Controller to conduct checking of flour mills in this connection. He has also banned wheat harvesting through combine harvesters from 7:00 pm to 9:00 am in the district. The orders will remain in force up to May 26, 2006.

NAWANSHAHR
Inaugurated
: Mr Parkash Singh, Parliamentary Secretary, inaugurated the newly set up office of the Sub-Registrar at District Administrative Complex, here on Tuesday. Mr Parkash Singh also distributed cheques amounting to Rs.46.50 lakh among 17 panchayats for carrying out various development works.
