CPM, SP join hands on Iran issue
To take on UPA govt
New Delhi, February 11
The Left parties are keen on forcing the Congress-led UPA government’s hand on the Iran vote issue having given a notice for a debate in Parliament under Rule 193 which does not require voting and the CPM and the Samajwadi Party reaching a common understanding on the issue.

Iran vote: TDP, SP plan no-trust motion
Lucknow, February 11
Giving indication of the formation of a secular, non-Congress alliance, Telegu Desam chief Chandra Babu Naidu and Samajwadi Party’s Mulayam Singh Yadav today declared to bring in a no-confidence motion against the UPA government on the issue of vote against Iran.

In a pride-restoring win, India thumped Pakistan by seven wickets here today to level the one-day series.
India’s bowlers, mauled by the host side batsmen, set the stage for the victory by restricting Pakistan to 265, a total Indian batsmen easily overhauled with solid contribution from Yuvraj Singh (82 not out), Virender Sehwag (67) and Rahul Dravid (56). (Details in Sports page)

Punjab to seek total control over Bhakra, Beas projects

Over four decades after Parliament enacted the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, the Punjab Government is all set to file a suit in the Supreme Court challenging the legality of Sections 78 and 79 of the Act.

Leh, Kargil still tense
Jammu, February 11
After three days of violence, no untoward incident was reported today in the twin towns of Leh and Kargil in the Ladakh region where curfew is being strictly enforced. However, communal tension continues to prevail in both towns. Reports said a futile attempt was made by miscreants to set ablaze a monastery near Leh in the wee hours today.
