A bird’s-eye view of Subathu
This small Himachal town is a paradise for birdwatchers. Spotting 30 species of birds on a two-day visit to Subathu, Lt Gen Baljit Singh (retd) comes back delighted.
A
lmost all birdwatching guides and gurus would tell you that clear skies, mild day-time temperatures, close-to-zero humidity and just the suggestion of a breeze is the ideal setting for birds to be out in flocks. This, mostly, holds true. But there are times when foul weather conditions can also be rewarding for bird watchers.

Spring selection
The fashion industry is gearing up to show what will be there for women this spring. Vimla Patil on the colours of the season

T
he entire concept of fashion is based on designers’ whimsies and women’s fantasies. Worldwide, there are hidden powers-that-be which predict the colours, looks and lines that will entice and sweep the hearts of women. And, each season, designers of clothes and accessories begin their journey to the world of colours, prints, embroidery and a thousand other embellishments to capture the hearts of fashion-conscious buyers all over the world.

If you think that at 18 you’re an adult, then think again, for a new study has found that people may mature much later than traditionally thought. Researchers from Dartmouth College in the US, in a study aimed at identifying how and when a person’s brain reaches adulthood, have found that, anatomically, significant changes in brain structure continue after age 18.
