Kisan Sabha:
The CPM-led All India Kisan Sabha has decided to hold country-wide dharnas, rallies and conventions next week for building pressure on the Centre for taking an initiative to encourage the third world countries for raising their voice against America’s monopoly in the ministerial-level meeting of the WTO being held in Hong Kong from December 13 to 18. This was disclosed here on Monday by Comrade Lehmber Singh Taggar, the national joint secretary of the sabha. A state-level convention in this regard would also be held at Desh Bhagat Yaadgaar Hall in Jalandhar on December 13, he declared. “Indian government should make a common cause with China, Brazil and other third world countries for thwarting American designs,” he said. He alleged that the developed countries were out to put pressure on the third world nations, including India, to decrease subsidies on agriculture, besides downsizing excise and custom duties on the export of their agricultural products into the third world countries.
