Panipat, December 5
A committee of doctors constituted at the PGI, Rohtak, has confirmed that the left kidney of Omla Malik is “missing”. She was operated upon at Panipat-based Geeta Nursing Home in 2003 in which Dr S.N. Gupta had allegedly removed her kidney.

A report mentioning the details in this regard was handed over at the office of CMO, Panipat. In the absence of the CMO, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Garg, accepted the sealed envelope.

The agitated family of the patient from Rohtak today gathered at the Model Town police station where the case was registered last week. They alleged that the police was shielding the doctor.

Ms Omla’s family appealed to the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to cancel the membership of the accused for practicing unethical practices.

Today a police party raided the Geeta Nursing Home, but both Dr Gupta and his wife Dr Geeta were missing. The DSP, Mr Sahib Ram Nehra, confirmed about the raids and said the doctor couple was out of station.

The family of Ms Omla had alleged that the police had given the accused enough time to fee and feared that he had disappeared to an undisclosed destination.

Staff at the nursing home said the doctor couple had gone to a marriage, but failed to name the place and time of their return.
