Fresh snowfall in Himachal areas
Chandigarh, November 27 In the northwest plains of Punjab and Haryana, partially cloud weather persisted for the second day with indications of light rainfall in
certain parts of the region. A report from Shimla said the Saptrishi peaks and Baralacha Pass and Suraj Tal and Chander Tal lakes in Lahaul and Spiti received another spell of snow. Snow was also reported in Kibber village, the highest village in the world at an attitude of 16,000
feet. The 13,050-feet high Rohtang Pass, which is also called the gateway to the tribal district, was open for the vehicular traffic despite receiving mild snow last night. In the plains, Amritsar continued to be the coldest place in the northwest with minimum temperatures dipping to 5.7°C, one degree below normal. Despite the overcast skies today, the day temperatures in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh were recorded as normal. The minimum in Chandigarh went up by one degree from yesterday and was recorded at 10°C, one degree above normal. However in Ludhiana, there had been a marked decline of three degrees in the minimum temperatures since yesterday and was registered at 6.8°C. In Patiala too, the minimum was down to 7.5°C (two degrees below normal) from 8.6 degrees yesterday. In HP, Shimla recorded a minimum of 5.5 degrees, one degree below normal. In Bhuntar in Kulu district, minimum temperature fell to 2.3 degrees from 4.6 degrees yesterday. Sundernagar recorded a minimum of 3.6 degrees. In Haryana, Karnal was
