20 hurt in Anantnag grenade attack

Srinagar, October 5
At least 20 persons were wounded when militants hurled a hand grenade towards a security forces patrol near Anantnag bus stand in south Kashmir today, official sources said.

They said the militants threw the grenade at the security forces patrol near Anantnag bus stand at 5.15 p.m.

However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the roadside, causing injuries to at least 20 persons.

Senior police officials have rushed to the spot. A manhunt has been launched to trace the militants responsible for the grenade blast.

The whole area was immediately cordoned off by the police and security forces and the injured were taken to the nearby sub-district hospital.

The condition of three of the injured persons was stated to be serious. — UNI, PTI
