Hooda’s copter makes emergency landing
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, September 11
A helicopter carrying the Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and two Congress MPs from Haryana made an emergency landing in a school playground at Jind owing to bad weather today.

Heavy downpour accompanied by a strong gale virtually swept the Pawan Hans copter when the pilot made an attempt to land at the makeshift helipad on the outskirts of the town. Mr M.S. Malik, SP Jind, said the pilot eventually managed to land it in a field near the railway station.

Agency reports from Jind said the pilot was quick to regain control of the copter despite the fact that it had lost considerable height. As it hovered over the town residents came out in the open. Mr Hooda had flown to Jind from Tohana with Lok Sabha members, Mr Naveen Jindal and Mr Jai Prakash. He had gone there to participate in a function organised by the Aggarwal community.
