Jawan’s body brought to Chandi Mandir

Chandigarh, September 11
The body of a jawan, who was killed in Thursday’s bridge collapse in Kinnaur was brought to the Command Hospital, Chandi Mandir, near here, today.
Senior officers laid wreaths on the body.

The family of the deceased jawan and the families of other missing army personnel were present Havildar Ravi Selvan belonged to Tamil Nadu. His body will be flown to his native place for cremation. Mrs Lakshmi Pattabhiraman, wife of the GOC-in-C, Western Command, Lt-Gen S. Pattabhiraman, consoled R. Shanti, wife of the havildar. She promised her all help. She also spoke to another woman whose husband has been missing since the bridge collapsed four days ago.

The havildar has two children, five-year-old daughter R. Abhishtna, and two-year-old son. A Sivasaran. They were playing nearby. They did not know the casket contained the body of their father.

While, Major-Gen Deepak Anand, in charge, Administration, Western Command, laid the wreath on behalf of the GOC-in-C, Major-Gen A.K. Bedi also laid a wreath. Another wreath was laid on behalf of the GOC, 2 Corps, Ambala, Lt-Gen K.D. Shekhawat.
