ISI agent arrested while sending information

The Delhi police has arrested an ISI agent who was sending information to Pakistan due to the alertness of people. The accused was noticed by the people in a cyber cafe while he was sending secret information to the ISI. He has been identified as Irfan Kausar (24).

On September 7, a man informed the police that somebody was sending information about the Indian military through Internet from a cyber cafe at Mohammedpur village near Bhikaji Cama Place.

The crime branch of the police and a team of sleuths led by the ACP, Dr Ashok Kalik, was sent to the spot.

The accused initially introduced himself as Ashok Kumar, a student. He produced his voter ID card. During investigation, he broke down and disclosed that his name was Irfan Kausar and he was a resident of Uggu Chak vilage in the Punjab province of Pakistan. His father was a retired naval officer.

The accused graduated from Punjab University, Lahore, in 2003 and started working as a typist. He met Mohammed Wasim and through him, he met military intelligence officers who promised to pay him Rs 10,000 a month if he provided them secret information. He was given training to collect information and send it to them. He was also given a list of persons whom he was asked to contact to get vital information about the Ambala cantonment.

On July 28, he landed in Nepal. From there, he went to Virat Nagar and later to Kanchan Nagar. There he met a Nepalese counterpart who gave him shelter for the night. On July 30, they boarded the bus to India and after crossing the border, they reached Saharanpur. From there, he reached Malerkotla in Punjab. He stayed there for a few days and collected information about the Ambala cantonment through his local contacts.

On August 13, he reached Delhi via train. He tried to get a bank account, ration card and voter ID proof so that he could get married and become a resident agent.
