US Congress Library to microfilm The Tribune

Chandigarh, September 9
The Tribune, Chandigarh, has joined the select band of newspapers around the world which are microfilmed and kept in the United States Library of Congress, located in Washington DC.

A letter from the office of the US Library of Congress to the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of The Tribune, Mr H.K. Dua, received today, says:"To ensure access to this important publication by current and future researchers, I am seeking your permission to microfilm your newspaper (with supplements) for preservation and research purposes only. Reels of microfilm will be available to researchers in the Reading Rooms of the Library of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington DC".

The permission has been given.

The US Library of Congress — the largest library in the world with more than 130 million items — sustains and preserves a universal collection of knowledge and creativity for future generations. Scholars in America and other nations benefit from this wealth of resources.

The Tribune is already available on microfilm at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Teenmurti, New Delhi.
