India, US sign 10-yr defence agreement
INDIA and the USA on Tuesday entered into an agreement that “charts a course for the US-Indo defence relationship for the next 10 years”. The landmark agreement will facilitate joint weapons production, co-operation on missile defence and the transfer of technology.

Talks on Wullar Barrage deadlocked

The two-day Water Resources Secretaries-level talks between India and Pakistan on Wullar Barrage/Tulbul navigation project in Jammu and Kashmir, which ended here today, proved to be a dialogue of the deaf as the two sides differed from each other on fundamental positions
and rejected each other’s key suggestions.

Mrs Sonia Gandhi, Congress President and Chairperson of the UPA, today flew to Rekong Peo to have a firsthand account of the destruction caused by the flash floods in the Sutlej in Kinnaur district.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi is accompanied by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh during a brief halt at Rekong Peo, Kinnaur district, during her visit to the flood-ravaged areas on Wednesday.

“walkathon” for residents of this remote region of Himachal Pradesh.
