Mercury drops in region
Chandigarh, June 12 The temperature dropped by one to two degrees below normal in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Hisar, where the mercury stayed one degree below normal, was the hottest place in Haryana, followed by Ambala recording 39.4°C and Karnal 38°C. Ludhiana was hottest at 40°C in Punjab as hot weather conditions prevailed in the state. The temperature dropped to 38°C from 40.6 degrees at Amritsar. In Patiala the temperature dropped to 39°C from 40 degrees yesterday. Several areas in Himachal Pradesh showed drop in the temperature. Shimla recorded 26°C today, a drop of 3.3 degrees since yesterday. People in Chandigarh and its adjoining areas also had some relief with the mercury dropping to 39.2°C after touching 41.8°C yesterday. The weather office has forecast rain or thundershower at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and duststorm or thunderstorm at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours. — UNI |
