Koirala meets Yechury

New Delhi, June 12
Nepali Congress leader and former Prime Minister of Nepal Girija Prasad Koirala today met CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechury and held discussions on the political scenario in Nepal after the royal takeover on February 1.

The two leaders discussed the situation arising out of the “royal coup” and the Nepali people’s struggle for the restoration of democracy in the Himalyan kingdom.

Mr Yechuri later said his party had expressed its “solidarity” with the struggle of Nepali people. “We are still with the Nepali struggle for democracy and we fully support it,” he said.

According to the CPM leader, the Nepali leader also gave a briefing on the joint declaration of a common agreement and commitment that depicted the unity among seven Nepali political parties in the struggle for democracy restoration.

The 81-year-old leader, who has been in Delhi for the past eight days, have met UPA chairperson and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
