Heat wave conditions are prevailing in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh. Likely to abate during the next 48 hours.

Rainfall: Rain/thundershowers have occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir, at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab and west Rajasthan. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cms are: Jammu and Kashmir: Pahalgam 2 and Kupwara and Quazigund 1 each.

Temperature: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures fell appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were appreciably above normal in east Uttar Pradesh, above normal in Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal, markedly below normal in Jammu and Kashmir and normal in the rest of the region. The highest maximum temperature in the region was 45.9ºC recorded at Varanasi A.P. (Uttar Pradesh).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 29: Rain/thundershowers are likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Punjab. Isolated duststorm/thunderstorm is likely in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 29: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of thundry development accompanied with squall in some areas during evening/night. The maximum temperature will be around 41ºC.
