Mystery shrouds the death of a sitting municipal councillor of Mandi Ahmedgarh whose body was found in a canal near that town this morning. Panic gripped the town with theories of murder as well as suicide being explored by the police, besides the angle of robbery, as some valuables and cash with him were also missing.

The mystery regarding the case of six persons, including four members of a family and two photographers found unconscious in Manakwal village on late Monday night after a birthday party, has deepened with a photographer of that village, who had taken the contract of recording the celebrations, claiming that robbery was the motive behind the incident.

A rich NRI has been allegedly killed for ransom in Manila (Philippines) on Sunday last. His native village, Sherpur Kalan, near Jagraon, here has plunged into grief at his murder. The news of the death of Harminder Singh reached his village last evening.

460 new buses for roadways fleet this week
Ludhiana, May 4
The Punjab Government has purchased 460 new buses to strengthen the fleet of state roadways and to make available better transport facilities to the people. These buses, 360 of them by Punjab Roadways and another 100 by Pepsu Road Transport Corporation, would start their commercial operations within this week.

I will be blindfolded by none other than Mr Prem Mittal, Deputy Mayor. Mr Nahar Singh Gill will flag off my cavalcade comprising a pilot jeep and 50 motorcycle riders,” said magician O.P. Dwarka to open outlet in city
Ludhiana, May 4
Dwarka Gems Limited, a jewellery manufacturing and export company, will inaugurate its outlet in the city tomorrow. The company, which is on an expansion spree both within the country as well as overseas, also plans outlets in Jalandhar and Yamunanagar shortly, said Mr Manoj Bhargava, director, Dwarka Gems Limited, at a press conference held here today.

Preety enthrals with melodious voice

Preety Bhalla charmed the city audience with her melodious voice. She was invited by the Sutlej Club to sing on the Baisakhi function held last week . According to the cultural secretary, Mr Sanjeev Dhanda, Punjabis are always looking for occasions to celebrate, so one can celebrate Baisakhi throughout the month of April. Her rendering of ‘Dama dam mast kalandar’ made the audience sway with her. Her ‘Bheege honth tere’ and ‘kanta laga’ made the audience go wild. Preety has made her mark in music world with her song ‘Dama dam’ (Sufi composition) from her album Jalwa II.
