Tribune News Service

New Delhi, March 31
The Directorate-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) today instituted an enquiry into the helicopter crash near Saharanpur that claimed the lives of two Haryana ministers.

Deputy Director of the DGCA P. K. Chattopadhyay has been appointed inspector of the inquiry.

Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said the helicopter was just three years old and had clocked over 100 hours of flying time. The pilot, Col P. S. Chauhan, was also an experienced pilot and was trained in flying this chopper, he said.

According to the minister, the helicopter was brought to India only in December and the mandatory technical checks were carried out four days ago.
