Haryana declares 3-day state mourning
Offices, educational institutions closed today

Chandigarh, March 31
The Haryana Government has declared three-day state mourning from today as a mark of respect to the two Ministers, Mr Surender Singh, Agriculture and Revenue Minister, and Mr O.P. Jindal, Power Minister, who died in a helicopter crash in Saharanpur district today.

The state government has also declared a holiday in the entire state tomorrow. All offices of the state government and those of its boards and corporations besides educational institutions will remain closed.

Haryana Governor A.R. Kidwai, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Bhajan Lal, Union Minister of State for External Affairs Inderjit Singh, Haryana BJP leaders Ganeshi Lal and Ram Bilas Sharma, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Punjab Congress chief H.S. Hanspal and a host of other leaders mourned the death of Mr Surender Singh and Mr Jindal.

The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, while expressing grief at the tragic death of the Ministers, said that the inaugural function of Dewan Atma Ram Auditorium of the Law Bhavan of the Bar Council, scheduled to be held on April 2, had been postponed.
