New Delhi, January 23
In a bizarre incident that is likely to the embarrass the Indian defence establishment, five persons (six according to UNI), including a woman, lost their lives after they were run over by a speeding Sampoorna Kranti Express moments after being allegedly thrown from another train waiting on the adjoining track at the Shikohabad railway station today. The tragic incident occurred at about 4.47 a.m. today. Bodies of three of the five persons who lost their lives have been identified. In video (28k, 56k)

Jammu-Srinagar National Highway reopened
Manali, Dalhousie, Kufri remain cut off
Jammu, January 23
The Jammu-Srinagar national highway, surface link between Kashmir valley and rest of the country, was today reopened for vehicular traffic following clearing of blockades caused by heavy snowfall during the last two days.

EC orders to videotape polling inside stations
New Delhi, January 23
Following the Supreme Court’s suggestions, the Central Election Commission today announced to videotape the proceedings inside the polling stations in Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand, especially in the sensitive areas, without violating the secrecy of the vote.

SC seeks report from Chief Secy

The Supreme Court has asked for an inquiry report from the Punjab Chief Secretary about the delay in filing of an appeal by the state in a land dispute case pertaining to Government College of Education at Lehal in Patiala, which was constructed at a cost of Rs 100 crore.

Missing RAW official lives in Jackson Heights, New York

Rabinder Singh, a former RAW official, suspected of being a CIA mole and who disappeared after coming under the scanner is now living in New York. Authoritative sources confirmed to The Tribune that Rabinder Singh had taken a circuitous route via Nepal receiving the CIA help and entered the USA in December.
