Chandigarh, January 21
The Deputy Commissioner of Hisar, Mr Balbir Singh Malik, was today transferred by the Election Commission (EC) allegedly for his partisan conduct, which amounted to violation of the model code of conduct.
A Haryana Election Department official, when contacted, said they had received complaints from some political parties regarding Mr Malik discriminating against the Opposition parties with respect to various activities related to the elections.
An agency report from Hisar said Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Mr Bhajan Lal, had alleged that the ruling Indian National Lok Dal was using the state machinery for its electoral campaign.
The EC has ordered the state government to immediately transfer the DC, commission sources here said. Mr Malik was the Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Om Prakash Chautala, before he was sent for the prized posting of DC.
Earlier, the EC had ordered transfer of the Director General of Police, Mr M.S.
Malik, Director, Public Relations, Mr Rajesh Khullar, SPs of Ambala and Panchkula, Mr Desraj Singh and Ms Mamta Singh, respectively, and Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department, Mr Om Prakash, for alleged violation of the model code.
While the three police officers were shifted for carrying out constable recruitment disregarding the model code in force in the state, the DPR and his deputy were transferred for issuing an advertisement on the Chautala government’s achievements.
