The Chandigarh Police today began investigation into complaints of sexual harassment against the Regional Officer of the CBSE, Mr P.I. Sabu. The investigation is separate from the probe being conducted by the sexual harassment committee of the board.

4 cops pay for laxity

The SHO, Sohana, along with an ASI, a Head Constable and a constable have been suspended by the SSP, Ropar, on charges of negligence of duty. A reported lapse on the part of the Sohana police had led two suspected drug smugglers to destroy crucial evidence against themselves.

Driving licence of 12 suspended

The Chandigarh Traffic Police has recommended the suspension of licences of habitual offenders under Section 19 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, during a period of one to three months.

Smokers in public places to be challaned

Kajheri resident cheats financer

The local police has registered a case of cheating against a resident of Kajheri for duping a financer of Rs 3 lakh. Mr Prem Pandey, Manager of R.H. Financer and a resident of Sector 21, reported to the police that Karnail Singh of Kajheri village had taken Rs 3 lakh from him on a loan to buy a truck in September 2000.

125 donate blood at police camp

The UT police organised a blood donation camp in the Mani Majra police station on Wednesday. This was the first such camp by the police. The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Rajesh Kumar, inaugurated the camp in which 125 persons, including 50 cops, donated blood.

All set for archery meet tomorrow
