18 hurt in Orissa clash

At least 18 persons, including 12 policemen, were injured when an angry crowd clashed with the police in protest against the ongoing clearance of encroachments here today.

The incident took place while a procession led by members of the Bar Association and traders turned violent when the police intervened, official sources said. — PTI

MP civic poll turns violent

Bhopal, November 20
Six persons, including three policemen were injured when violence broke out at Bazaria area of Vidisha during elections to urban bodies in Madhya Pradesh today, prompting the police to lob teargas shells.

Polling in two booths in ward number eight of Bazaria area were cancelled after workers of SP and BJP indulged in stone throwing and shoot-out, official sources said. — PTI
