Levy sugar, kerosene not made available
Tribune News Service

Jammu, October 21
The Jammu State Morcha had demanded a probe into the “vanishing” of the levy sugar, other foodgrains and kerosene quota from the government ration shops.

In a statement here today, Mr Onkar Seth, a morcha leader, alleged that 2.5 tonnes of sugar, rice and wheat had not even been issued for the past five months to the families living below the poverty line.

He said that the monthly quota of sugar to the state was 7,500 tonnes, but it had not been issued to the consumers even during the Navratras and the holy month of Ramzan.

He alleged that certain leaders of the ruling PDP-Congress coalition were involved in swindling of kerosene. Poor people were being forced to purchase kerosene in the black market.
