MUKTSAR:
A one-and-a-half-year old child died due to gastroenteritis in the district. Since the child was under treatment of a fake RMP doctor, he died due to improper treatment, said the DC, Mr B.R. Banga, in a press note issued here today.
Mr Banga said the gastroenteritis was under control in the district. He said out of 211 gastro patients admitted to various civil hospitals and dispensaries situated in the district, 205 of them had been discharged after they were cured. Six patients were still under treatment in these hospitals, the press note added.
The DC claimed that the district administration had constituted 11 medical teams under the supervision of SDMs and SMOs concerned in Muktsar, Gidderbaha and Malout cities as a preventive measure. Besides these mobile medical teams were also working in all the villages falling under the district, Mr Banga added.
He appreciated the timely efforts of Civil, Health, Public Health Departments and Municipal Councils in controlling the gastroenteritis.
The DC claimed that the Health Department had distributed 2,40,000 chlorine tablets among the public in the district. He further said that gastro patients were being looked after and were being provided medicines, free of cost, by the Health Department. He appealed to the public to approach only qualified doctors in case of any symptoms of gastroenteritis.
