Tribune News Service

New Delhi, June 2
Mr N.N. Vohra will continue to be the Centre’s interlocutor on Jammu and Kashmir. A PMO spokesman said Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had requested Mr Vohra to continue as Government’s special representative. Mr Vohra would continue to discharge the responsibilities entrusted to him, the spokesman said.

Mr Vohra has been redesignated as Special Representative of Government of India for Jammu and Kashmir dialogue.

Mr Vohra had quit the post after the change of government at the Centre.

Sources said Mr Vohra would now concentrate on working out the modalities for the third round of talks between the Centre and Ansari-led Hurriyat Conference. Mr Vohra is likely to visit Srinagar later this month where he would meet separatist and political leaders. The sources said Mr Vohra had convened a meeting of senior Home Ministry officials to discuss the agenda for the talks with the Hurriyat.
