Heat wave conditions have abated in Punjab.

Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amount of rainfall in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Bhuntar 4 and Shimla 3, East Uttar Pradesh: Gorakhpur 2, and Uttaranchal: Dehradun 4 and Muktestwar 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell appreciably in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, fell in Punjab and changed little elsewhere. Departure: They were markedly above normal in Himachal Pradesh, appreciably above normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 44.9°C recorded at Jaisalmer (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of May 25: Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Isolated duststorm or thunderstorm with rain is likely in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May: Partly cloudy sky with possibility of duststorm/thunderstorm with rain in some areas. Maximum temperature will be around 38°C.
