Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have been reported at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Weather was dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cms are: east Uttar Pradesh: Gorakhpur 2; and Uttaranchal: Pithoragarh 2.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures rose in Haryana, Punjab and west Uttar Pradesh, fell in east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed a little elsewhere. Departure: They were markedly above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, appreciably above normal in Haryana, above normal in Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 46.5°C recorded at Amritsar.

Forecast valid until the morning of May 24: Rain or thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of May 24: Hot day with dust haze. Mainly clear sky likely to become partly cloudy with possibility of thundery development towards afternoon/evening in some areas. Maximum temperature will be around 43°C.
